Dainis Medjaniks

Dainis Medjaniks was born in 1993 in Ogre, Latvia into a family of musicians. In 2000 he received first violin lessons with Galina Aleksandrowna at “Jurmalas Muzikas Vidusskola” and his parents. In 2004-2010 Dainis was a student of Ludmila Girska at the renowned “Emila Darzina Speciala Muzikas Vidusskola”. Since 2011 he is a student at “Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover” under the guidance of Prof. Krzysztof Wegrzyn.

In 2016 Dainis won the prestigious scolarship “Gundlach Musikpreis”, which allows to live in nice flat and to have a practice rooms for free two years long.

During christmas and new year of 2016/2017 Dainis was engaged to take a place as a soloist and concertmaster at “Philharmonisches Filmorchester Berlin Babelsberg”, which made a tour around China within 10 concerts.

In summer of 2017 Dainis will take part at “Anchorage Chamber Music Festival”, where he will perform worldwide famous chamber works with known musicians and give masterclasses for the students, who will come from all world to take a part in this festival.

Dainis has gained international attention becoming a Laureate of the 54th International Violin Competition "Premio Paganini" in Genova, Italy in March 2015. He has been succesful winning prizes at various international competitions from early age: 2nd Prize in the 6th International August Dombrovski Competition and 3rd Prize in Latvian Music School Competition in Riga, Latvia (2008), Diploma from Tallinn Competition for young musician (2007), 2nd Prize at String Instrument Chamber Music Competition (2004), held by Latvian Music School in Riga, Latvia. In 2013 he was named “The most prominent student of violin” at the Spaincellenve-Masterclass 2013 in Avila, Spain.

Dainis is enjoying an active concert live performing regularly in Europe and overseas: he gave recitals in Indonesia, China, Spain, England, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia and Germany. In April 2015 he performed the "Paganiniana" by Nathan Milstein in the program "NDR Junge Künstler Live", which was live broadcast on Radio "NDR Kultur" and presented by Viola star Nils Mönkemeyer. As a soloist he performed with Kammerorchester Niedersächsischen Staatorchester Hannover and with Orchestra della Fondazione Teatro Carlo Felice de Genova. In the year 2009 he won Grand Prix Prize and playd solo programme at Copenhagen Summer Festival, Copenhagen.

Dainis attended masterclasses given by Petru Munteanu, Vladimir Klochko, Felix Andrievsky, Marina Kesselman, Mauricio Fuchs. Young violinist is beeing supported by “Förderkreis Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover”, “Musik braucht Freunde”. He is also a Youth Prize holder of Lions Club Cloppenburg, Germany. Since April 2015 Dainis is a scholar of LiveMusicNow Hannover, a foundation inspired by legendary Yehudi Menuhin, which allows young musicians to perform regularly in the region of Hannover.

Dainis plays a violin made by Sebastian Klotz in Mitenwald in 1782 which is a generous loan from the Foundation of Lower Saxony.

Stanislav Solovyov (Russia) — the masterly pianist-soloist and concertmaster, the bright representative of St. Petersburg piano school. One of the few pianists who can be equally convincing in both large-scale solo programs and chamber ensemble and accompaniment. He graduated the St. Petersburg Conservatory, with great success performed with solo concerts in Latvia, Russia, the countries of Europe. He played with Academic orchestra of St. Petersburg philharmonic hall, symphonic orchestra of St. Petersburg's chapel, the Latvian national symphonic orchestra, philharmonic orchestra of Belgrade, philharmonic orchestra of Wroclaw. The winner of many international competitions, among which the IV International competition of pianists of Yazep Vitol (Riga, 2002) and the III International competition of pianists of Franz Liszt in Wroclaw (Poland, 2005). In 2011 gained the diploma "Best concertmaster" at the XIV International competition of Tchaikovsky. Since 2012 is one of the youngest teachers of St. Petersburg State conservatories of N. Rimsky-Korsakov. The discography of the musician includes a solo disc of Beethoven, Scriabin, Liszt, Prokofiev's works.
